Flash Fiction

She left behind her a trail of whither as she walked along. Her soul was dead, but her body not, and so was everything else she touched.

He wore a gold ring shaped as a snake on his finger, it’s eyes made of the purest rubies. “They can see right through you,” he always said.

She had a 6th sense that combined all the other 5. She smelled, touched, saw, tasted & heard fear. She soothed mine. Others, she exploited..

She carved her name on the white snow, thinking it would last forever. All that remained after sunrise was the bloodstain her finger left…

It was a planet with three moons. They lived in constant night and never saw the sun, but it was never dark with three full moons…

His unconventional ways scared him. He feared his eccentricity and wondered where it may lead him. That fear made him marry young. Too young.

She fried flower petals then added them to the stash of stardust she had tucked away from prying eyes. Her magic was to be unleashed…

The darkness seeped through her skin & infested every living thing around her. She releaved herself of burdens but death surrounded her…

She slowly submerged her body into the sea, thinking it would cleanse her soul. Moment of truth: that pain will never fade…

And, just like that, she walked out of our lives again. But, this time, she left us with hope…

I came. I saw. I conquered. And then I left you in utter destruction and despair…

And the police shot the hostages as they walked out of the bank, thinking they were the thieves…

I write you love letters and send them into outer space, because I have no idea where you are…

The sound she uttered in pain – the ‘Ah’ – was how the alphabet was created

She tried but her efforts were to no avail. The past stripped her of trust until she knew it no more… Mankind was doomed!

And on he moves to his next endeavour, in search for what he believes is true love. Alas, for all he seeks is a means to fill his inner void

The curls of her hair strands resembled the labyrinth of thought, desire and turmoil that lay deep within his soul…

The day he touched her was the day her innocence died. She was happy, until the day he said goodbye…

She tossed her hair casually and, with every strand, a million hearts fell into oblivion.

The sky rained spears that pierced through the hearts of every dark soul on Earth. When the rain stopped, no one was left…

And when he had reason to celebrate & rejoice, he could think of none other than her to share with. Her, whose heart he had once coldly broken

Knowing that she had been abused, again, and betrayed… Move on, she said to herself. As always, just move on…

And as the tears finally flowed, she crawled into the world of acceptance, knowing that she had tried, again, and failed…

One after the other, she washed away the stains of history from her soul with the waves of pure sea water, mixed with heal, hope & dream…

All it took was one look. One long, defiant stare, and he was head-over-heels in love

“So, how did you two meet?,” they were asked. “Globalization!”

He called her beautiful. She believed him, but she didn’t care.

She fell in love with him… For two minutes… Then she fell out of love with him again…

She thought it would be interesting. She was wrong. It was addictive.

I was his sunshine. The minute I set, his entire universe went dark…

They didn’t leave a single stone unturned in search for him but, alas! If only they knew his meek body lay underwater

“That was fun!” he said. “Yes,” she said, smiling. And they never saw each other again after that night

Life turned her into a viciously independent woman. Her first endeavor with need left smears of scorn on her soul…

“It hurts when I think of you,” she thought. “Then you must be hurting all the time,” replied the voice inside her head.

She was the kind of woman who made every married man regret the day he committed to another, in want of her. She knew that & she loathed it.

She looked him straight in the eye as he talked. An onlooker would say she was engrossed in what he was saying. Truth is, she was elsewhere.

He could see a birthmark half-hidden underneath her sleeve. She was talking but he heard nothing. His life depended on seeing the rest of it.

She stood close and unintentionally threw her head back as she laughed. It took all of his willpower to stop himself from smelling her hair.

Across the hall, she saw his face, and it was like the entire world – all of existence – melted away into oblivion…

She hummed & the elves manifested themselves is spirals of dance & chant, decorated with fireflies & miniature rainbows…

In the dark cave, she huddled herself together on the cold floor. Her mind was blank. Words failed her. She knew she was inside her own head.

“I can change, but who do u want me to be?” he said. “If u change, I’d be in love with someone who isn’t u.” she replied.

She searched for sanity deep within the realms of her mind. But the rebel inside her was dead. Nothing made sense anymore.

“What inspires you?” he asked. “Everything!” she replied. “Can I inspire you?” “Sure, but it would only work once.”

She looked up at the night sky and gazed at the full moon above. It was smiling. She felt hopeful…

“You broke my heart,” he told her. “Really, now?” she replied. “And what do you call what you did to mine?”

He looked in her eyes & said, “I wish I’d met you 10 years ago.” She cringed. “Bottom line is; I’m still alone.”

“How old r u?” he asked. She sighed. “140!” she replied. “I didn’t ask you how old you felt. I asked you how old you were.” he said.

She was listening to the saxophone playing. She closed her eyes and let the musical exhales take her to happy places..

“I’m the soulmate you can’t have,” she told him. “Why?” he asked in shock. “Because you didn’t wait for me long enough.”

Her eyes spoke of far away lands, where justice was pure and where power struggles were unknown… But her voice was mute…

“Put aside that shield of fearsomeness! I want to see the woman behind that cold wall!” he demanded. “Careful what u wish for,” she replied.

The sun and moon battled for the sky’s attention as jealousy took over their existence. They left the Earth in piles of dust…

She howled at the moon like a vicious beast! Her wounds ran deep, the pain was torturous, yet no one heard her cries…

Invisible hands groped her neck & suffocated the breathe out of her. She wished they would kill her & get it over with. They had other plans

Thoughts of what was lost & gone crowded her brain. She was half a human who existed partly in reality & part in the realms of non-existence

Her delicate nature was deceiving. Onlookers thought her sweet but, in reality, her mind was a labyrinth of dark thoughts & philosophies…

The sea was a velvety black in the darkness of that moonless night. Its vastness gave way to the mind to wander & plunge into lucid abysses.

Her patience weaved yards & yards of dull, coarse yarn; dark & rough to the touch. In time, it stretched so long that it covered the oceans.
